Our Long COVID research team were the winners at the University of Leeds Research Impact awards in the 'Health' category.
Health Impact Award
Research can improve health and wellbeing through the development of new technologies, processes, practices and guidelines. This award recognises research that has made a tangible difference to the lives of patients, users or related groups.
Winning Project – Impact of a research programme for Post COVID Condition or Long COVID (LC): Integrating translational science, clinical management and service delivery.
Long COVID is a global health crisis affecting millions. The multidisciplinary research team were the first in the UK to identify the condition, and together, we have delivered a research programme on the condition that has achieved global impact. Their patient reported outcome measure has been translated in >40 languages, adopted by WHO and recommended by NICE. Their digital outcomes platform is used in >60 NHS Trusts. Their Borg pacing rehabilitation algorithm is used globally. Their NHS England work has informed national LC policy, and their WHO work has informed global LC policy. Their £3.4 million NIHR LOCOMOTION study has produced best practice guidance used universally.
